Juanita Young and Nicholas Heyward, Sr. have been powerful voices in the movement against police brutality. Through their own experiences, both of these activist parents have also brought strength to many others who suffer and/or have lost their loved ones to police violence.
Juanita just returned from Detroit, where she was giving support to the family of Aiyana Jones, the seven-year old who was shot and killed sleeping in her bed by Detroit police raiding her family's home. She and Nicholas plan to fly out to Los Angeles to support Oscar Grant's family and the people of LA when the trial for Grant's killer begins again in June. The trial of Johannes Mehserle, the BART officer who shot Oscar Grant in the back in front of hundreds of people on New Years in 2009, is the first in California history where a cop is facing a murder charge for killing someone in the line of duty.
Help get Nicholas and Juanita and possibly other Parents Against Police
