The District Attorney can request the California Attorney General's office to do the investigation into Robert Garth's death .* In the Daniel Sylvester taser execution in Del Norte, DA Riese requested the AG conduct the investigation. This has at least provided the appearance of more impartiality.

The Times-Standard June 23, 2010 1:15:10 AM PDT
A Del Norte County man who assaulted two sheriff's deputies [we can always count on the Times Standard to be the immediately decided judge and jury for an execution by cop] Tuesday morning died after he was shot with a Taser and began having trouble breathing, the Del Norte County Sheriff's Office reported.

Howdy from Del Norte county,,,Just wanted to tell all the watchdog folks out there there we won the first of 25 + Lawsuits in Del Norte County yesterday. We went to the federal court in San Francisco and it was amazing. We are not done yet. We settled with the city but not the county. Claypool told their attorney he will go to court with this even if he forefeits his Attorney's fees ..The attorney for Del Norte had the Del Norte urd well versed. He was a very rude man..
Did very well in the monetary part and the best part is that policies are going to be changing because of this suit. The Del Norte Attorney for City stated [confirmed] this.
Monumental... Del Norte County lost all evidence concerning the Brian Strom Case. We should have taken this farther but with the economy the way it is, we did very well in sending a message that this must stop. We only setteled with the city, we still have the county to deal with..

Humboldt County boys, aged 13-18, already a target of criminalization, are being shipped off to Bar-O-Boys Ranch in Del Norte County so that the state can make profit off of their forced labor and internment. Although this facility claims to "rehabilitate" targeted youth, they are in reality employing slave labor. The same Ranch has even been accused of working a young boy, Benjamin Lucchesi, to death through "compulsory morning exercises" on October 9, 2000.
