This one was published in the Eureka Times- Standard on Tuesday, July 25, 2006. This is exactly how it looked in the paper:
Excessive force used in arrest?
I am writing in concern of the brute force I witnessed on July 17. I observed a swarm of Eureka PD pulling up to the front part of our apartment building. I proceeded to take a closer look outside. I was standing on the sidewalk observing the ruckus. Then, seconds later, an officer in his patrol car raced onto the sidewalk while I was standing there and gave no warning (e.g., did not honk, nothing) and I was forced to run onto the front grass area. There was mass confusion within our building we tried to communicate with the officers but they proceeded to be extrememly abrasive and disrespectful toward us bystanders.
After about five minutes or so (and hearing lots of banging around and screaming and hollering) I then observed three to four officers pulling a lean-built, handcuffed African-American outside to the street aggressively. Then after he was on the ground with three officers holding him down, another officer used his bully club repetitively on the young man in his hamstring posterior of his lower legs and knees. The officer did not hit him once or twice but an uncountable amount of times. Not only was he using such excesseve force on this individual, but he was doing it in a violent manner where I could hear the billy club literally on the man's leg muscles and bones. After the ruthless beating, the patrolmen abruptly left the premises.

what arrest? sounds like
what arrest?
sounds like the baton-weilding, psycho uniformed crew who beat Martin Cotton II almost exactly a year later...to death
i wonder how the Black man who was beat on July 17, 2006 is...
and I wonder how the witnesses are doing?
